ART GRADE HEAVY DUTY LP STORAGE BOX
To get started, procure the materials for the chosen box design, strength, aesthetics, shape and size required. Specialist arts shop suppliers are a good point of call. For a solid art grade acid free reinforced box as the one demonstrated, cost of materials approx $50 including art grade consumables. Time to make a box of this type 3-4 hours, plus allowing drying time between gluing steps. The technique of crafting structural 3-D objects in paper is like this is generally called 'Paper Engineering'.
Mark out the size of the box lid top and base. The sides are to be glued to the edges for this design using 3mm heavy duty art grade acid free base board
Mark cutting lines. Knife is a Stanley 10-299
Check and trim bases to within 0.5mm same, and mark left and right sides

Tape corners and check for square within 0.5mm. Corners also PVA glued when fitting
Fitting cut lid guides. Acid free photo glue to avoid warping, PVA to help the budget. When fitting the box lid, ensure that the lid is fitted in place on the box before gluing the last 2 sides, to ensure a snug fit.

Preferably next day, seal box with painting and photo acid free gloss varnish. Several light coats to desired finish. Any small blemishes can be repaired using oil pens of the correct colour, or blended in situ before varnishing. Apply in a well ventilated, and use a face mask.
Contents packed for export. Bubble wrap and I prefer to use low tack masking tape, being easier to remove than either standard masking tape, or cellotape.
Play suitable motivational music
Cut on marks, keep non-cutting hand clear or clamp the steel ruler to be safe
Test fit LP of desired size on the cut and trimmed bases
Cut and check for desired dimensions sides
Align side to base, and leave a 3mm gap. Adher book repair acid free tape to outside first. Brush in industrial cross-linking PVA glue in to the gap before lifting the side square. Tape inside.
All sides on, check and brace alignment and for square while glue sets. Test fit LPs, Allowance for lid guides
Photo glue, also use on large surfaces such as the top and bottom box linings
Corner lining first, paper is gloss 200g photocopy paper
Edge lining, top. The patterns can be made to continue form the lid to the base.
The top lining in place. Use photo glue for the main part, PVA around the edges for better adhesion, Wipe away excess PVA quickly with a damp cloth
Box base lining complete. Fold ledges for a neat fit.

Lid is already a snug fit on the box. being packed in to a outer carton, being a recycled carton from the pressing plant used to press the vinyl for this release..
